The City of Greensboro in Guilford County, North Carolina is an important cultural and economic component of the Piedmont Triad. The Triad, named for the cities of Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point, is a large regional hub of manufacturing and transportation activity. Greensboro’s southwest quadrant is the portion of the city that cradles the Piedmont Triad International Airport—situated west of Westridge Road and south of West Market Street on the eastern side of Guilford College Road. Fifty years ago, Southwest Greensboro was mainly a suburban community, developing around the campus of University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). In the latter half of the 20th century, however, the area has developed a more diverse and dynamic feel. Real estate options consist of single-family homes, condominiums and townhouses as well as land for custom building. Southwest residents enjoy access to a lengthy list of Greensboro dining, shopping and entertainment establishments as well as a reasonably large employer base. The Four Seasons Town Centre, a regional shopping destination, is nearby, as are several other retail and commercial corridors. Greensboro is also known for its exciting nightlife, which presents locals with everything from live music at a casual venue to high energy dancing. Alternatively, residents might choose to hang out at one of the city’s many parks, public pools, golf courses, tennis courts, lakes, campgrounds or recreation centers.
